Sringeri Sharadamba: Adi Sankaracharya first erected Goddess Saradamba as a Sriyantra carved on a rock, with an image of the Goddess made of sandalwood. The discussion between Sankaracharya and Mandana Misra's wife, Bharati, is said to be the source of the Sarada temple in Sringeri, a legend that is upheld in the majority of Sankara-vijayams. Believed to be a manifestation of the Goddess Sarasvati, Bharati issued a challenge to Sankaracharya to engage in a debate. Once he had satisfied all of her inquiries, she granted him permission to remain in Sringeri, the location of Sankaracharya's first monastery. The Great Mother of the Universe, Jaganmata, is the Saguna Brahman, and Goddess Saradamba is her representation. She is also known as guru-rupini since She bestows Her blessings on Her followers via Jagadguru. She is linked at different times with Mahesvari, Mahalakshmi, and Mahasarasvati, the Great Goddesses of Puranic Hinduism, and is worshipped as Gayatri, Savitri, and Sarasvati, the Goddesses of the Gayatri Mantra.
